All three major operating systems have apps that allow you to record your screen and save as a gif in a few easy steps (and all within a single app):\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.bahraniapps.com\/gifcam\/\">Windows has gifcam<\/a><\/li>\r\n \t<li><a href=\"https:\/\/itunes.apple.com\/us\/app\/giphy-capture-the-gif-maker\/id668208984?mt=12\">Apple users have Giphy Capture<\/a><\/li>\r\n \t<li><a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/phw\/peek\">Linux users can use Peek<\/a>.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\nAnd all of these are far from the only options. I encourage people to experiment so that they can find the tool that suits them best.\r\n<div class=\"textbox\"><strong>Hint<\/strong>: Doing a google search for 'open source screencast windows' (or Apple) usually nets a few, good, and -- importantly -- free applications.<\/div>\r\nWith apps like these you might wonder why I keep my workflow and why I'm bothering to share. I use commandline tools because they allow me to write <a href=\"https:\/\/gist.github.com\/mxbees\/789154b661d1525f840ce043b665a398\">scripts to automate the process<\/a>.
